The Horse Himself

Donatello. What a wonderful name. This is the horse we have been awarded. He is a 10 yr old Mustang! As of right now he is only halter broke, but we are competing under saddle. Uh-oh! We will have our work cut out for us, but that is the joy in this challenge. We take a beautiful/handsome horse that families can't really enjoy right now and make him something anybody could enjoy.

Donatello has quite a history, although I do not know most of it. I know he was seized by law enforcement. When this has to happen, it must have been pretty bad. He was involved in a cruelty case, along with more than ten other horses.

The Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society says that he obviously was not handled much when he was at the location from which he was seized, however, the foster home with which he has been living is able to pet him. They also say he is "catchable," which I suppose means he does not really run from the people trying to put a halter on him. Some other things are interesting about Donatello's BEHS profile. It is currently unknown whether he bathes, ties, or clips. I guess we will found out about the bathing and whether he ties just as soon as we get him home.

We plan on retrieving this special little(15 hands) guy(gelding) home tomorrow. Wish us luck and pictures will be coming soon!
